Rents Officer urgently required for our Housing Association client based in East London.
£16 – £18 per hour
Rent Officer with excellent track record on arrears recovery, concrete evidence of working on Housing Benefits/Universal Credit claims, concrete evidence on presenting arrears cases to court- including preparation of claims, equalities act assessment etc.
To assist in the provision of an efficient, effective Housing Debt Recovery Service ensuring
that high standards of Customer Care are achieved.
To work as a member of the team with responsibility for maximising income and reducing
debt levels of all current and former tenants through the promotion of a 'Rent First' culture
whilst ensuring they have access to sensitive and appropriate assistance.
Implement Company policies in relation to Housing debt, including;
Responding to telephone enquiries
Account monitoring and updating
Taking formal recovery action
Provision of local responsive and appropriate customer contact through telephone
calls and interviews, (both appointment and non-appointment) and visits in line with procedure
Processing of expired NOSPs and suspended actions
Ordering rent cards
Pro-actively work towards early, regular and extensive contact with tenants including
home visits, to prevent and reduce debt and to maximise income through:
Arranging standing orders and direct debits and reconciling year end uplifts.
Entering arrangements for repayment.
Assist in the development and implementation of effective practices between theRent Services Section and Area Offices
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbal &
Ability to deal with confrontational situations
Able to organise workload to meet deadlines and targets
Ability to make decisions and recognise problems
Knowledge of Debt recovery procedures
The client needs someone who can hit the ground running from day one.
